Sandy Connon was born in 1959, and had a typical rural childhood, 'running free' in the bush-clad hills of Titiramgi.
After leaving school, Connon roamed around New Zealand, Australia and the USA being a 'hippie'.
When she returned to New Zealand she moved to Waiheke Island, and began an icecrean selling enterprise. But a summer of continual rain melted any chance of success.
A chance remark from a friend that she took good photographs inspired her to take the Wellington Polytechnic Professional Photography course.
After working in a studio in Lower Hutt and realising she wasn't suited to be an employee, Sandy Connon Photography was 'born'.
Now Sandy splits her time between her Wellington and Sydney studios...
