Patti is perhaps more used to having her portrait painted than photographed - she was married to a famous New Zealand artist, the late Peter McIntyre. On the day she met Peter in 1947, he said that he wanted to marry her. Pattie at this time was engaged to be married to another man, but the couple had secretly broken the engagement off. Unable to tell their families, she still wore his ring. Six months after their first meeting, Pattie organised a sitting with Peter. The engagement ring was still on her finger. As he painted her Peter said, 'You're not going to marry that man, are you?' Pattie said 'No.' And no more was said about it. Pattie McIntyre, 2000
